A Pirates life for me! Kathryn Jones and the Skeleton Crew!

I love Pirates and have had these dolls on my mind since we returned from Disneyland in April. They are silly and absolutely not serious. They have tiny skulls and bones made from white polymer clay. I have embraced the 4 fingers haha!
Kathryn is about 7" and her hair is Tibetan lambs wool, which is wispy and I love it. Because it is so fine it takes awhile to adhere to the doll head. I tried e6000 and don't care for it. I find myself going back to "crafters pick" glue for just about all of my gluing needs. I recently ordered some new colors of wool and cannot wait for it to arrive. Kathryn's head is a bit smaller than some of my recent dolls and I think I might stick with this size for awhile. I added ears also, previously only Aaron had ears, he looked so naked without them! I am also toying with the idea of longer legs; I like them jointed at the knee and if they are too short they almost disappear beneath the dolls. :)

Memento Mori Irene

goth victorian memento mori death art doll post mortem

black Victorian mourning dress memento mori art doll OOAK
Irene dearly departed wife, mother and daughter. Died much too young of something far too curable in our lives today.
Her family could not bear to part with Irene before a photograph was taken of her. So they clothed her and put make up on her and propped her up for her first and last photo.  She looks like she is enjoying the sunshine or pondering some deep private thought.

I love those old Memento Mori Victorian photos. They are so creepy and sad, most of them are the only photos family had of their loved ones.
Irene is sculpted from living doll polymer clay and dressed in black Victorian mourning attire. These photos are photo-shopped to look old lol, I will have more when I list her on Etsy. I think I will have some fabric behind her when she has her photo-shoot, if I can find some small plants to prop her with that would be cool too!

Sweet Gothic style

I love Goth Creepy strange weird dolls. Yup those are the dolls for me. I never played with dolls when I was a kid other than a Mrs. Beasly doll and yup those are pretty creepy lol. I had smurfs and Breyer style horses but never prissy baby dolls, just wasn't interested in them. So I suppose my obsession with making dolls now in my 40's, strikes my mother and family as odd. For me the odd thing is that I just started making sugary girly clothes for my dolls. But their faces and circumstances are for sure not sugary. Here is a sneak at my newest art doll, Bo. She is close to completion I want to style her hair, maybe add some goth jewelry and a hat. I adore her dress and her eyes the most. She is a bit larger than my recent dolls, about 11", she is still sweet ;)
